Because middle school science doesn’t teach itself. (Unfortunately.)

Welcome to the chaotic, messy, mildly explosive, and totally magical world of middle school science! This blog is where I spill the beakers (figuratively) on everything I’ve learned from over a decade of teaching tweens how to use goggles correctly and why licking lab equipment is frowned upon.

Here, you’ll find lessons, projects, printables, and probably a few jokes that only teachers will understand. All content is proudly built on the State of Ohio Science Learning Standards, but many of the activities and units can be adapted to align with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) too, because good science is good science, no matter what acronym you answer to.

Whether you’re looking for an inquiry lab that won’t end in tears, a way to teach variables without losing your own, or something to fill that weird post-testing void, I’ve got you covered.

Enjoy the blog, steal the ideas, and if there’s a topic you want me to tackle (like “how do I explain plate tectonics without falling into the center of the Earth?”), just let me know.

Teaching science is hard. Let’s make it a little easier and a lot more fun. 🔬
